Mountain Soap Co. is the result of a mother and daughter's vision
to create and bring hand made soaps,
bath, and body products to those who
desire a more natural approach to skin care. We started using natural soaps
about ten years ago from a woman who made some wonderful goats milk soap for
my Mom who was ill.
I was hooked from the very beginning, as it
made a definite difference in my very dry skin and my daughter Emily’s
sensitive skin—no more store bought soap for us. Even as a young child;
whenever we went to pick up soap, Emily wanted to know how it was made and
would ask to help. Well years later and now in her teens, she knows how! She
leaves the soap making to Mom, but likes cutting it into bars and trimming
it. She especially loves to experiment with new products, and was a great
help in developing the lotion bar recipe. She often helps at shows,
especially the festivals where there is music. Her favorite is the LEAF show
in Black Mountain, NC. Check out
www.lakeedenartsfestival.org and see why we love being a part of this
great festival.
Over time we recruited other helpful hands
including those of her cousins Anne-Marie and Erin. Jennifer helps with
packaging, filling orders, and daily shop responsibilities. We even recruit
Lil to come in from Florida when the busy fall season arrives, and If you
have ever been to a show where Ronny was working you have tried our amazing
lotion bar, as he doesn’t let anyone get by without doing so. We still
remain a family business---but our family keeps growing! In addition to our
lotion bars and
soaps, we have included bath salts, natural
insect repellant, scrubs, healing balm, lotions, lip balm, and our wonderful
Monoï de Tahiti products. We use
only the highest quality vegetable oils (no animal fats) in our soaps and
often add herbs, botanicals, goats milk, essential and or fine fragrance
oils to them. We carry well over forty varieties from basic avocado for
sensitive skin to even a doggie shampoo bar. Our lotions are made with
natural oils and butters using the least amount of synthetic preservatives
possible.
We love our pets (three dogs, three cats),
and most of them came from shelters, where there are more pets than adoptive
families. Not only does it sadden me, but my heart goes out to all the
abandoned animals I see wondering the roads; so a portion of every
doggie shampoo bar sold is donated to
www.peacefulkingdom.org dedicated to helping people who can’t afford to
spay/neuter their pets.
We have been blessed in our life and are truly thankful. We love what we do,
and thank all of our customers who keep us busy. I hope you enjoy using our
soaps and products as much as we enjoy making them. Thank you for taking
time to visit our site.
Warm regards, Cindy and Emily Heinemann
